Amazon is set to discontinue Freevee, its free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service, with the brand expected to be fully phased out in the coming weeks, according to Deadline.

Content from Freevee has already moved to Prime Video, where non-Prime members can still access select shows without a subscription. New episodes of Freevee originals will continue to be available for free, ensuring a consistent lineup for all viewers.

Freevee initially launched in 2019 as IMDb Freedive, later rebranding to IMDb TV and eventually Freevee in 2022. The service offered both original content, including shows like Bosch: Legacy and Jury Duty, and select Prime Video titles added in 2023.

Amazon’s move to sunset Freevee follows the recent introduction of ads on Prime Video, which had created some overlap between its streaming services. “To deliver a simpler viewing experience for customers, we have decided to phase out Freevee branding,” an Amazon spokesperson told Deadline. Prime Video will continue offering a wide range of free content for non-Prime members, including Amazon MGM Studios Originals, licensed movies, series, and a library of FAST channels.
