Apple is gearing up for its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) next week, and rumors are swirling about a potential new addition to its software lineup: a dedicated password manager app called “Passwords.”

Apple hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, multiple sources have reported that the company plans to unveil the new app during WWDC. “Passwords” is expected to be a first-party service powered by iCloud Keychain, Apple’s existing password management system.

While iCloud Keychain already offers some password management functionality, it’s currently tucked away within the Settings app and can be a bit cumbersome to use.

A dedicated “Passwords” app could make it much easier for users to manage their login credentials and improve overall security.
