Apple Music subscribers can now transfer their playlists to YouTube Music, according to a recent support document highlighted by MacRumors.

This marks the first time Apple has enabled native playlist transfers to a rival music service, making YouTube Music the pioneer in this regard.

There are limitations to the transfer process. Only songs available on YouTube Music can be transferred, excluding audio files like podcasts, audiobooks, and curated or non-collaborative shared playlists. Additionally, music files and folders created to organize playlists in Apple Music cannot be migrated.

To begin the transfer, users need an active Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription, as well as a YouTube Music account. The process involves logging into Apple’s Data and Privacy page, selecting “Transfer a copy of your data,” and following the provided instructions. The time required for the transfer depends on the number of playlists, ranging from a few minutes to several hours.

Apple Music still does not support transferring playlists to other services like Spotify or Amazon Music, leaving users reliant on third-party tools.
