Apple has opened applications for its 2024 Security Research Device Program (SRDP), which provides security researchers with a dedicated iPhone to help them find and report security vulnerabilities.

The SRDP is open to security researchers from around the world who have a track record of research on iOS and other platforms.

Applicants must submit a proposal that describes their research goals and how they plan to use the SRDP device.

The SRDP devices are equipped with a variety of tools and resources to help security researchers, including a custom jailbreak, a vulnerability scanner, and a sandbox environment. Researchers are also given access to Apple’s security team for help and guidance.

“From today through October 31, we invite security researchers to apply for the 2024 iPhone Security Research Device Program (SRDP) to jump-start their iPhone research, work with our security teams to help protect users, and qualify for Apple Security Bounty rewards,” the company said.

“Each year, we select a limited number of security researchers to receive an SRD through an application process that’s primarily based on a track record in security research, including on platforms other than iPhone.”

Applications for the 2024 SRDP are open now through October 31, 2023. Winners will be notified in early 2024.
