Apple is reportedly planning to release a new version of its AirPods with a USB-C charging case in September.

The new AirPods will reportedly be identical to the current AirPods, but they will have a USB-C port instead of the Lightning port.

The move to USB-C is likely due to the European Union’s upcoming regulations, which will require all new smartphones, tablets, and laptops to be equipped with USB-C ports. Apple is already phasing out the Lightning port on its other products, such as the iPhone and iPad, so it makes sense for the company to do the same with the AirPods.

The new AirPods are expected to be released alongside the iPhone 15, which is also rumored to have a USB-C port. The iPhone 15 is expected to be released in September, so the new AirPods will likely be released around the same time.
