Apple is set to release its next-generation Mac Mini, and it appears the tech giant is saying goodbye to USB-A ports.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the updated Mac Mini models will start arriving at Apple warehouses in September, with a more powerful version featuring the Apple M4 Pro chip scheduled for launch in October.

The upcoming Mac Mini with the M4 Pro chip is expected to include five USB-C ports (two on the front, three on the back), an ethernet port, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack. Notably, the new model will also feature an internal power supply, all within a design that remains compact—about the size of an Apple TV.

This shift away from USB-A suggests Apple is continuing its push toward more modern connectivity standards, a move that may disappoint some users but is likely to improve overall performance and functionality. The redesign is poised to inject new life into the Mac Mini lineup, which has maintained a similar appearance for over a decade.

As Apple prepares to unveil this revamped desktop, the absence of USB-A marks a significant departure from tradition, hinting at a broader transition in Apple’s hardware strategy.
