More ASUS users can now upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 after installing a BIOS update that fixes the blue screen of death (BSOD) issue reported last October.

Microsoft had previously placed a compatibility hold on certain ASUS devices, particularly X415KA and X515KA laptop models, due to crashes during the update process. The issue caused affected devices to display a BSOD error, preventing the installation of Windows 11 24H2.

In a recent update, Microsoft confirmed that ASUS has released a Critical BIOS Update (CU) to resolve this problem. The update is available through Settings > Windows Update, and Microsoft will gradually lift the safeguard hold as more devices receive it. ASUS users running a BIOS version lower than 311 must install the update to proceed with the upgrade.
