Google has rolled out updates to address issues in its Messages app that were causing slowdowns, failures, and problems with receiving images and videos.
Users had reported that RCS messages with media files were loading slowly, appearing blurry, or not loading at all. Some also experienced app freezes when trying to open attachments.
Google has now acknowledged the problem and confirmed that fixes are being implemented. In a support page update, Google community manager Monika Y. stated that updates have been released to improve media receiving performance and that users should notice a difference. However, Google admitted that some issues may persist and encouraged users to provide feedback if problems continue.
The company has not detailed which specific media issues were addressed, but since users don’t need to download an update, the improvements are likely happening on Google’s backend servers.
While the fix may not work for everyone immediately, at least one user has reported seeing better performance with RCS photos since the rollout began.
