There’s a critical issue affecting some Google Pixel 6 series phones (Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a) following a factory reset. Reports have surfaced of devices becoming bricked, meaning they are rendered unusable.
The culprit appears to be a recent software update. After performing a factory reset, some Pixel 6 phones are stuck in a boot loop, displaying an error message stating “Cannot load Android system. Your data may be corrupt.” This message prompts users to perform another factory reset, creating an endless cycle with no resolution.
While the exact cause remains under investigation by Google, this issue is particularly concerning as factory resets are often used to troubleshoot problems or prepare a phone for sale.
In the meantime, it’s wise to avoid factory resetting your Pixel 6 series phone unless absolutely necessary.
