Google announced on Thursday that its Gemini app is receiving a major update with the launch of the Gemini 2.0 Flash AI model.

According to a company post, the revamped model promises faster response times and improved performance across key benchmarks, making it more effective for tasks like brainstorming, learning, and writing.

This update is rolling out to both Gemini’s web and mobile apps, and it will be available to all users. However, Google has confirmed that users can still access the older Gemini 1.5 Flash and 1.5 Pro versions for a few more weeks.

Gemini 2.0 was initially introduced in December, and Google had teased that it was working quickly to integrate the new model into its products. An experimental version of Gemini Flash 2.0 was made available to users at that time.

Additionally, Google revealed that the image generation features in Gemini now utilize the latest version of its Imagen 3 AI text-to-image generator. The updated model promises to deliver more detailed textures and better accuracy in following user instructions.
