Netflix is a streaming service that allows its members to watch a wide variety of award-winning TV shows, movies, documentaries, and more on thousands of internet-connected devices. It has revolutionized the way we watch television and films.
Netflix is rolling out a series of new tools that parents can use to filter what content their kids see while using the service, including the ability to remove titles entirely.
To choose the types of TV shows and movies your kids can watch, you can manage their profiles individually or create a profile with the Netflix Kids experience with titles just for kids.
Create A Profile With A Specific Maturity Rating
To manage the types of TV shows and movies that people on your Netflix account can watch, you can create individual profiles with customized maturity ratings.
- Go to your Manage Profiles page.
- Select Add Profile.
- Name the profile. To use the Netflix Kids experience, select Kids.
- Select Continue. The new profile should show on the list of profiles on your account.
Choose Maturity Ratings Or Block Shows
When you set a maturity rating for a profile, that profile will see only TV shows and movies that fit that rating. You can also block specific TV shows and movies from individual profiles.
- From a web browser, go to your Account page.
- Open the Profile & Parental Controls settings for the profile you want to manage.
- Change the Viewing Restrictions setting.
- Enter your Netflix password.
- Set the maturity rating level for the TV shows and movies you want to allow in that profile.
- Select Submit. TV shows and movies above the selected maturity level will be removed from the profile.
Lock Your Profile Or Other Profiles On Your Account
If you want to restrict access to a specific profile on your account, you can protect it with a Profile Lock PIN. To add a PIN to a profile:
- From a web browser, go to your Account page.
- Open the Profile & Parental Controls settings for the profile you want to lock.
- Change the Profile Lock setting.
- Enter your Netflix account password.
- Check the box to Require a PIN to access the selected profile.
- Enter four numbers to create your Profile Lock PIN. Unless you’re using an unsupported device, you will enter this PIN to enter the profile or play titles downloaded from it.
- If you want to require a PIN any time a new profile is added to your account, select Require PIN to add new profiles.
Access Viewing History For A Profile
You can see the TV shows and movies that have been watched on each profile on your account.
- From a web browser, go to your Account page.
- Open the Profile & Parental Controlssettings for the profile you want to see.
- Open Viewing activity.
- If you see a limited list, use the Show More button.
To download a list into a spreadsheet, select Download all at the bottom of the page. The downloaded file can be opened using any spreadsheet software that supports the CSV file format.
