The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has again directed WhatApp to withdraw its much controversial revised privacy policy and has warned action against the platform.
In a new message to WhatsApp ministry asks to withdraw its Privacy Policy 2021 as the changes to the Privacy Policy and the manner of introducing these changes, including in FAQ, undermines the sacrosanct values of informational privacy, data security, and user choice for Indian users and harms the rights and interests of Indian citizens.
The ministry has also strongly taken up the issue of WhatsApp’s ‘discriminatory treatment’ to Indian users in comparison to the users in Europe.
