Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to schedule direct messages, as first reported by TechCrunch.
To use this feature, you can simply long-press the “send” button and select a preferred date and time for your message to be sent.
However, as outlined on Instagram’s support page, the feature currently supports only text-based messages. Media like photos, videos, or GIFs still need to be sent in real-time. If you schedule a message, Instagram will display a notice in the chat indicating the number of scheduled messages.
From there, tapping on the notice and long-pressing the scheduled message allows you to delete it or send it immediately. It’s worth noting that messages can only be scheduled up to 29 days in advance.
This update is part of Instagram’s ongoing effort to enhance its DMs. Recent additions include the ability to edit messages, draw on photos, and share live locations, further aligning the platform with features offered by rivals like Snapchat.
