Instagram has introduced a nostalgic new feature that allows users to add a song to their profile, reminiscent of the early Myspace days.

This update, which places a song in the bio section of a user’s profile, lets visitors listen to a selected track while browsing. However, unlike Myspace, the song won’t automatically play; viewers can choose to play or pause the track at their discretion.

To add a song, users can go to the “edit profile” section, where they can search Instagram’s library of licensed music. This library is the same one available for Reels and posts. Users can then select a 30-second segment of the song to feature on their profile. The song remains in place until the user decides to change or remove it.

Instagram is rolling out this feature in collaboration with pop star Sabrina Carpenter. Her catchy single “Espresso” has been a hit this summer, and starting today, her Instagram profile will showcase a teaser of a brand-new track, “Taste.” This exclusive preview will be available only through Instagram’s profile music feature, offering fans an early listen before the full album release on Friday.

In addition to the profile music feature, Instagram is introducing a few hidden surprises themed around Carpenter’s upcoming album, Short n’ Sweet. For example, using certain keywords like “Sabrina” or the coffee cup emoji will turn temporary Notes messages light blue. There’s also a special Carpenter-branded chat theme that features lipstick kisses, adding a personal touch for fans.Instagram Revives Myspace Nostalgia with New Profile Song Feature
