A notorious ransomware gang that has targeted critical infrastructure around the world has been taken down by an international police swoop.
The Ragnar Locker gang is believed to be responsible for numerous high-profile attacks, including those on Colonial Pipeline and JBS Foods. In October 2021, the group launched a ransomware attack on Colonial Pipeline, one of the largest pipelines in the United States, which caused widespread fuel shortages across the East Coast.
The Ragnar Locker gang is also believed to be behind the attack on JBS Foods, the world’s largest meatpacker, which disrupted global food supplies.
In a coordinated operation, law enforcement and judicial authorities from 11 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, targeted the Ragnar Locker gang this week.
