Meta has started laying off employees across several divisions, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Reality Labs, as part of an ongoing restructuring, theverge reports.

These layoffs are more focused and aligned with team reorganizations rather than a large-scale company-wide cut.

Some affected employees have already shared their experiences online. Notably, Jane Manchun Wong, who became well-known for uncovering unreleased features in apps and joined Meta’s Threads team in 2023, is among those let go.

In a statement to The Verge, Meta spokesperson Dave Arnold said, “Today, several teams at Meta are changing to better align resources with our long-term strategic goals and location strategies. This includes relocating teams and shifting employees to new roles. When a position is eliminated, we strive to find new opportunities for impacted employees.”
