Shortly after Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s remarks during an all-hands meeting were leaked, the company issued a strong internal warning against leaks, stating that employees responsible for such actions would face termination.
Meta’s Chief Information Security Officer, Guy Rosen, emphasized in an internal memo that the company takes leaks seriously and will enforce strict consequences. “When information is stolen or leaked, there are repercussions beyond the immediate security impact. Our teams become demoralized, and valuable time is wasted—time that should be focused on our products and mission,” Rosen stated. He further confirmed that Meta has recently dismissed employees for leaking confidential company information and misusing sensitive documents.
During the meeting, Zuckerberg expressed frustration over repeated leaks, saying they have forced him to be less transparent with employees. “We try to be really open, and then everything I say leaks,” he remarked. “It sucks.”
In a separate post on Meta’s internal platform, Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth acknowledged employees’ disappointment over the decision to scale back transparency. He shared a link to a report on the leaked meeting, noting the backlash but asserting that the move was necessary.
