Meta has suspended several Threads and Instagram accounts that tracked the private jets of high-profile figures such as Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Kim Kardashian, and Donald Trump.

These accounts, maintained by Jack Sweeney, used publicly available flight data to monitor the movements of celebrity aircraft. Sweeney is best known for his @ElonJet account on X (formerly Twitter), which was similarly suspended.

Sweeney revealed the suspensions on Threads, drawing parallels to the widespread bans his accounts faced on Twitter last year. The now-disabled accounts initially displayed a message indicating that the pages were either broken or removed. According to Sweeney, Meta provided no prior warning or explanation for the takedowns, leaving the accounts “blacked out” with no interaction options.

A Meta spokesperson later confirmed the suspensions, citing concerns about the potential physical risks to individuals, in line with their privacy policies and the recommendation of the company’s independent Oversight Board. The spokesperson emphasized that these actions were taken to mitigate risks of harm to those whose movements were being tracked.

Earlier, a similar account tracking Taylor Swift’s private jet was deactivated after the singer threatened legal action, accusing Sweeney of “stalking and harassing behavior.” Sweeney stated that a total of 38 of his accounts have now been suspended across platforms like X and Threads, comparing the situation to his December 2022 ban from Twitter.
