Meta is internally testing a feature that allows users to add music to their Threads posts, the company confirmed to TechCrunch.
The feature, first uncovered by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, is not yet available for public testing. If implemented, it would let users personalize posts by adding music, evoking nostalgia for the Myspace era when users showcased their musical tastes. However, reactions may vary, as some users could find music-embedded posts distracting.
In addition to music integration, Threads is reportedly testing options to set display names and add cover images to profiles. These updates aim to align Threads’ user experience with competitors like X and Bluesky.
As the music feature is still in its internal prototyping phase, Meta has not provided a timeline or confirmation of its public release.
