Microsoft has resolved an Azure outage that lasted over two hours, affecting numerous services for customers across North and Latin America.
The incident began around 18:22 UTC and was attributed to a configuration change impacting services leveraging Azure Front Door (AFD), Microsoft’s cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN).
“This issue is impacting multiple geographies, mostly in North America and Latin America,” Microsoft explained on its Azure status page. The company rolled back the change, and from 19:25 UTC, the majority of services began to recover. Many Microsoft services rerouted away from AFD to mitigate the issue.
Despite the primary impact being in the Americas, customers in the United Kingdom also reported connection errors to Azure services, including Azure DevOps. The Azure DevOps status page confirmed that Brazilian users were affected as well.
During the outage, the Azure status page did not display information about the affected services for at least an hour and was inaccessible to many customers, compounding the difficulties experienced during the incident.
