Microsoft is officially rolling out a native Copilot app for macOS starting today.
Similar to its Windows counterpart, the Mac version provides access to Microsoft’s AI assistant via a web-based interface. Users can upload images, generate AI-powered text, and create visuals seamlessly.
The macOS Copilot app introduces a dark mode and a convenient shortcut—Command + Space—to activate the AI assistant, mirroring the Alt + Space functionality on Windows. Initially, the app is launching in the US, UK, and Canada, with an updated iPad version that now supports split-screen mode for multitasking.
Additionally, Microsoft is making Copilot more accessible across Apple devices. Users can now log into Copilot on an iPhone or iPad using their Apple ID and upload text or PDF files for AI-powered analysis, such as generating summaries or answering questions about the content. This document summarization feature will soon be available on macOS as well.
This macOS launch follows Microsoft’s recent decision to make Copilot Voice and Think Deeper completely free with unlimited access. Previously, these features had limitations for free users, but Microsoft has now lifted those restrictions, allowing users to engage in longer, more detailed conversations with the AI assistant.
