The Nepal Government has announced a ban on TikTok, the popular social media app.
The decision was made at a cabinet meeting on November 13, 2023, and comes in response to concerns that the app is being used to spread misinformation and hate speech.
“We have decided to ban TikTok because there are activities that disrupt social harmony in Nepal recently,” said government spokesperson Rekha Sharma at a press conference.
The ban has been met with mixed reactions, with some welcoming the move and others criticizing it as an infringement on freedom of expression.
