Netflix will remove nearly all of its interactive shows and films on December 1st, leaving only four titles: Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, Ranveer vs. Wild with Bear Grylls, and You vs. Wild, according to The Verge.

This marks the end of Netflix’s early venture into interactive content, which began in 2017 with Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale.

While Netflix initially explored various interactive formats, including trivia games and popular franchise specials, the limited number of available titles suggests lukewarm reception. “The technology served its purpose, but is now limiting as we focus on other areas,” Netflix spokesperson Chrissy Kelleher said.

This decision aligns with Netflix’s shift away from interactive titles, following former gaming head Mike Verdu’s statement that the company has refocused on GenAI for games. Despite its efforts in mobile and game streaming, Netflix has faced challenges in gaming, including the recent closure of its AAA game studio.
