NVIDIA has acknowledged a performance issue affecting systems running its newly released NVIDIA App, which can cause gaming frame rates to drop by as much as 15%.

The problem stems from the app’s Game Filters feature, which NVIDIA recommends disabling temporarily. Restarting the game after turning off the filters should help mitigate the issue.

“We’re aware of the reported performance issue related to Game Filters and are actively investigating,” an NVIDIA representative shared in a support forum post earlier today.

To disable Game Filters, visit NVIDIA App Settings > Features > Overlay > Game Filters and Photo Mode, then relaunch your game.

This guidance follows mounting user complaints about severe gaming slowdowns linked to the app. Some users reported that performance issues persisted until the app was uninstalled even after disabling the overlays and filters.

“I had to uninstall the NVIDIA app for now. Even with overlays and filters off, it was still causing crashes and poor performance,” one user commented. Another added, “I uninstalled it yesterday, and now my games are running fine. Delta Force wouldn’t even launch before, but after uninstalling, it worked immediately.”

Tech reviewers, including Tom’s Hardware, confirmed the reports, noting that enabling Game Filters can reduce frame rates by up to 15%. This drop is significant, equivalent to the performance gap between standard GPU models and their more powerful Ti versions.

The NVIDIA App, officially launched in mid-November after several beta tests, is designed for Windows 10 and 11 systems with NVIDIA GPUs. It aims to keep drivers up to date, provide optimal game settings, and introduce new RTX features to enhance gaming and creative workflows.

According to NVIDIA, the app integrates popular features from GeForce Experience and RTX Experience, offering gamers tools for better performance and access to exclusive rewards.

While NVIDIA works on a permanent fix, users are advised to disable Game Filters to avoid performance hits.
