OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT and DALL-E, is about to drop Sora – a text-to-video AI that’s going to change everything. And the crazy part? It’s going to be available to everyone later this year!
OpenAI chief technology officer Mira Murati says Sora will be available “this year” and that it “could be a few months.”
What is Sora?
Sora is a generative AI model capable of taking your written descriptions and transforming them into visually stunning short videos. Imagine typing “A majestic lion hunting on the African savanna” and watching Sora bring that scene to life. The potential of this technology is vast, from crafting unique social media content to visualizing complex ideas.
In addition to making the tool available to the public, Murati says OpenAI has plans to “eventually” incorporate audio, which has the potential to make the scenes even more realistic. The company also wants to allow users to edit the content in the videos Sora produces, as AI tools don’t always create accurate images. “We’re trying to figure out how to use this technology as a tool that people can edit and create with,” Murati tells The Wall Street Journal,
Last month, OpenAI, the company behind the AI chatbot ChatGPT, introduced a video-generation model called Sora.
