PlayStation Network (PSN) has been facing a widespread outage that began on Friday evening, leaving many gamers frustrated.

According to Sony’s PSN status page, several core services have been affected, including account management, gaming and social features, PlayStation Video, the PlayStation Store, and the PlayStation Direct website.

For gamers, this means potential trouble launching games, apps, or using online features. Sony has acknowledged the issue and assured users that they are working on a fix “as soon as possible.”

When this outage was first reported around 7:28 PM ET, some players found themselves unable to access their purchased digital games, see their friends list, or view trophies on their PS5. Later, at around 11:45 PM ET, attempts to play Fortnite resulted in error messages, blocking login access. However, some single-player digital games, like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, still seemed to work.

Sony confirmed the issue in an 8:46 PM ET post on its @AskPlayStation X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, “We are aware some users might be currently experiencing issues with PSN.”

Sony’s official status page marks the outage as starting at 7 PM ET, though Downdetector data suggests that reports started rolling in as early as 6 PM ET. At its peak, nearly 70,000 user reports were logged on Downdetector.
