While rumors about the Apple Watch Series 10 have been relatively quiet leading up to Apple’s event next week, a new report from 9to5Mac reveals some key upgrades.

One of the standout features is an upgraded ECG sensor capable of detecting signs of sleep apnea, a condition that causes people to stop breathing while asleep.

Bloomberg’s report adds that if the watch detects signs of sleep apnea, it will recommend users consult a medical professional for further tests. This marks a significant step forward in the Apple Watch’s role in health monitoring.

Other potential improvements to the Watch Series 10 include slightly larger displays, a thinner case, and enhanced water resistance, enabling it to support the Apple Watch Ultra’s Depth app. There are also rumors that Apple may tweak how its sensors process health data, possibly shifting the detection of atrial fibrillation from the watch to the Health app.

However, one significant feature might still be missing: the blood oxygen sensor. Apple removed this feature from its current watches due to a legal dispute with Masimo over a patent.

We’ll have to wait until next week to see what’s officially announced, but it’s clear that the Watch Series 10 could bring some noteworthy health and design upgrades.
