Starlink, the satellite internet company under Elon Musk’s SpaceX, is ramping up its presence in Ukraine by deploying additional secure terminals.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Starlink has secured a Pentagon contract to provide 2,500 new terminals with access to Starshield, the company’s highly secure satellite service designed specifically for government use.
This expansion will bring the total number of Starlink terminals equipped with Starshield in Ukraine to 3,000, bolstering the nation’s critical communications infrastructure amid ongoing conflict.
Starshield is a premium service offering enhanced encryption and security, tailored to meet the demands of governmental and defense-related applications. The initiative underscores Starlink’s growing role in providing reliable internet connectivity in challenging environments, while also highlighting its strategic partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense.
The move comes at a time when secure and resilient communication systems remain vital to Ukraine’s efforts to maintain operational continuity. With Starshield, Ukrainian authorities access a robust platform designed to withstand cyber threats and support high-priority communications.
This deployment signifies another milestone in Starlink’s commitment to extending secure and reliable internet access globally, particularly in regions with critical needs.
