Tata Technologies Ltd., a subsidiary of Tata Motors, recently faced a ransomware attack that forced the company to suspend some of its IT services.

The cyberattack impacted its network, but the company has since restored the affected systems.

Tata Technologies is a major Indian multinational tech firm specializing in automotive design, aerospace engineering, and research & development. With over 11,000 employees and an annual revenue of $600 million, the company operates across 18 locations in India, North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.

In an official statement to India’s National Stock Exchange, Tata Technologies confirmed that the attack had affected a few of its IT assets. However, the company assured that its client delivery services remained fully operational, ensuring no disruption to customer operations.

“This is to inform you that the Company has become aware of a ransomware incident that has affected a few of our IT assets,” the public notice stated. “As a precautionary measure, some of the IT services were suspended temporarily and have now been restored. Our client delivery services have remained fully functional and unaffected throughout.”

Tata Technologies has launched a detailed investigation in collaboration with cybersecurity experts. More information will be shared as the situation unfolds.

As of now, no known ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and it remains unclear whether any data was stolen. Typically, ransomware attacks involve data theft, even if encryption is prevented. In the case of tech firms, such breaches could expose confidential corporate data, potentially harming intellectual property and proprietary technologies.
