Following a decision by the Turkish Competition Authority, social media platform Threads will cease operations in Turkey starting on April 29, 2024.
The platform will deactivate user profiles, but users will be able to download their information and delete their accounts before the shutdown.
“We value the Threads community in Türkiye and hope to be back soon,” the company said in a statement to users.
This is not the first time that a social media platform has been forced to shut down in Turkey. In 2020, the government banned access to Twitter and YouTube for a short period
