TikTok has unveiled a new way for Android users in the United States to download or update the app—directly from its website.

This move comes after the app was removed from Google Play last month in response to a US ban, providing American users with an alternative method to access TikTok.

Now available on TikTok’s website are both the standard version of the app and TikTok Lite, a streamlined version designed for users with slower internet connections. The installation process is straightforward: download the APK file, open it, and follow the prompts to install. Early tests on a Pixel 6 showed that updating via this method is just as quick as receiving an update through Google Play.

In an official tweet, TikTok announced, “We’re enhancing ways for our community to continue using TikTok by making Android Package Kits available at TikTok.com/download so that our U.S. Android users can download our app and create, discover, and connect on TikTok.” The tweet also pointed users to further details on their Help Center.
