Twitch has lifted the indefinite suspension of former President Donald Trump’s account, which was originally imposed following the January 6th, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

A spokesperson from Twitch, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, confirmed the reinstatement. “We have reinstated former President Trump’s Twitch channel. We believe in the importance of hearing from Presidential nominees directly when possible. Trump is now the official Republican nominee for the 2024 US presidential election,” the spokesperson stated.

The spokesperson emphasized that Twitch remains committed to its Community Guidelines, enforcing rules uniformly across all channels, regardless of the account holder’s public status. “Twitch does not have a ‘public figure policy,’ meaning all channels must adhere to our guidelines equally,” they added.

Trump’s Twitch account was initially disabled the day after the January 6th incident and then indefinitely banned on January 20th, 2021, due to concerns over potential incitement of violence, according to a statement from a Twitch representative at that time.

In related news, Meta recently lifted the restrictions on Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, which had been reinstated in January 2023.
