Elon Musk has announced that the platform will be limiting how many tweets users can read per day. Verified accounts will be limited to 6,000 tweets per day, while unverified accounts will be limited to 600 tweets per day. New unverified accounts will be limited to 300 tweets per day.
The temporary reading limitation was later increased to 10,000 posts per day for verified users, 1,000 posts per day for unverified and 500 posts per day for new unverified users.
Musk said that the limit was being imposed to discourage “extreme levels” of data scraping and system manipulation.
It is unclear how long the tweet limit will be in place. Musk has said that it is a temporary measure, but he has not specified when it will be lifted.
