The Ukrainian military has announced its involvement in a cybersecurity operation, claiming to have successfully breached Russia’s federal tax agency.

After executing this maneuver, conducted by cyber units under Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, military intelligence operatives successfully infiltrated the central servers of Russia’s federal taxation service, along with 2,300 regional servers spanning both Russian and Ukrainian territories currently under occupation.

The operation allegedly led to the comprehensive erasure of critical configuration files essential for the seamless operation of Russia’s expansive taxation system. This encompassed the main database as well as its backup copies, dealing a significant blow to the infrastructure.

According to Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR), the aftermath of the cyber assault has been profound, resulting in a breakdown of communication channels between Moscow’s central office and the 2,300 territorial departments that fell victim to the attack.
