WhatsApp is introducing new customization options for chats, allowing users to personalize their messaging experience with custom themes, chat bubble colors, and an expanded selection of wallpapers.
According to a new blog post, the update is rolling out now and will be available to all users worldwide in the coming weeks.
With 30 new wallpaper options, many of which come with preset themes that automatically adjust bubble and text colors, users can make their chats more visually distinct. This could help personalize conversations and make it easier to identify important chats at a glance.
The customization settings apply only to the individual user, meaning your selected theme won’t be visible to the other person in the chat. Themes can also be applied to WhatsApp Channels. Users can opt for a uniform look across all chats or tweak individual conversations with specific themes. For those who prefer more control, the settings allow separate customization of sent and received message bubbles, text colors, and wallpapers.
Once the update is available, users can change their chat theme across WhatsApp by navigating to Settings > Chats > Default chat theme. To customize a specific chat or channel, they can open the conversation, tap on the chat name or the three-dot menu, and select Chat theme from the options.
