X has introduced a dedicated vertical video tab in the app’s bottom navigation bar for U.S. users, providing quick access to video content.
“An immersive new home for videos is rolling out to users in the U.S. today,” X announced in a post on Sunday. This feature builds on the platform’s existing video functionality, where users can already scroll through short videos by tapping on one and swiping up.

The timing of the launch is significant, as TikTok and other ByteDance apps remain inaccessible on major app stores in the U.S., leaving users unable to download or update the apps. While existing users can still use these apps, new downloads are currently blocked, prompting social media platforms to rush in with new features to capture displaced users.
Meanwhile, Bluesky has entered the short-video space with the launch of a custom vertical video feed, aiming to attract users amidst growing uncertainty surrounding TikTok in the U.S. The new feature includes a “Trending Videos” section in the Explore tab, allowing users to swipe up for more videos, similar to TikTok’s interface.
