YouTube has announced that its enhanced 1080p video quality option is now available for Premium subscribers on the desktop web.

The new option, which was first released on iOS in April, offers a higher bitrate than standard 1080p, resulting in a sharper and more detailed viewing experience.

To enable enhanced 1080p on desktop, Premium subscribers simply need to open the YouTube video they want to watch and click the “1080p Premium” option under the video quality settings. The new option will only appear for videos that are eligible for enhanced 1080p.

YouTube says that the enhanced 1080p option is particularly beneficial for videos that contain a lot of detail or motion, such as action movies or music videos. The company also says that the new option should be more noticeable on high-end displays, such as 4K monitors.

The availability of enhanced 1080p on the desktop is a welcome addition for YouTube Premium subscribers. The new option offers a significant improvement in video quality, and it’s a great way to take advantage of the high-end displays that many people are using today.
